Migration Mornings Birdwalk

Take a leisurely hike to see and hear the numerous bird species that migrate through central Pennsylvania. Shaver's Creek naturalists Doug Wentzel and Joshua Potter will help participants identify the songs, calls and field marks of species from hawks and eagles to thrushes and woodpeckers. Bring a good pair of hiking boots, binoculars, any guide books you have, and an inquisitive mind! Migration Morning walks are open to birders of all experience levels. Central PA Native Plant Festival and Sale

Come celebrate the arrival of spring, the return of wildflowers, and the beginning of another gardening season at Shaver’s Creek Environmental Center! Shaver’s Creek is proud to host the second annual Central Pennsylvania Native Plant Festival and Sale from 10am-3pm. Come on out for a hike, a picnic…and enjoy one of the scheduled educational walk/programs on native plant gardening. In addition to expert speakers, there will be native plants for sale; local seasonal prepared foods and breads for sale; and educational resource tables where you can have native plant and gardening questions answered. Admission to the festival is free but please come prepared to support one of our vendors through purchases of plants and/or food. 4th Annual Float for Charity

Come join us on Saturday, May 19, rain or shine, as we paddle 10 miles for charity down the Raystown Branch of the Juniata River from Tatesville to Hopewell, Pennsylvania! Proceeds from this year's event will benefit the Alzheimer's Association, Greater Pennsylvania Chapter. You are also invited to attend a tailgate after the float, where you will find the raffle announcements, live entertainment and t-shirt sales. As always, FREE camping is available at Cooper's Recreation Area. Food will be provided and sold by Memories Sports Bar and Grill of Huntingdon. Registration begins at 9am and the float will launch at 12pm. Bring your family and friends, and join us at the 4th Annual Float for Charity!
